Potty Habits

What Are Abnormal Potty Habits?
Any urine or bowel movement problems that occur after potty training in otherwise healthy children, are considered abnormal potty habits. These problems can develop in young, school-age,and adolescent children. These include:

  • Urine accidents
  • Urinary frequency
  • Urinary urgency
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Holding urine or stool
  • Constipation
  • Encopresis (stool accidents)
  • Abdominal (belly) pain
  • Stained underwear
  • Bedwetting that is associated with other daytime problems

  • If your child’s potty habits result in infections, social issues, pain, and problems with day-to-day living then they need to be addressed.
