Diets and Constipation in Children
What Role Does Diet
Play?
Diet certainly plays a significant role in the development
of childhood constipation. Eating or drinking too many dairy products
such as milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, etc. may result in harder stools.
Not eating enough fiber, found in foods such as fruits and vegetables,
will also contribute to constipation. The introduction of new foods to
your child’s diet, or diets consisting of too much fast food or starches
could also lead to constipation. Lastly, not drinking enough fluids, namely
water, may be problematic. Our book provides details on fiber calculations,
foods rich in fiber, and it provides child-friendly fiber-rich recipes.
