Daytime Potty Problems
My Child Also Has Daytime Potty Problems
PottyMD is one of the first (probably the first)
to really develop the concept that daytime bladder and bowel habits are
commonly linked to bedwetting. Children tend to hold urine and stool in
order to avoid using the restroom during the day. This may be obvious and
result in a child having urinary frequency (because the bladder is not empty),
urine urgency, and having incontinence of urine or stool (encopresis). In
some children holding urine or stool may not be obvious. Children who have
any urine or bowel problems during the day are likely to leave excess urine
in the bladder at bedtime, creating the need for emptying in the middle
of the night. Also, the bladder that is not allowed to completely empty
during the day is more likely to be "spastic" or unwilling to hold urine
at night. PottyMD feels that many children with bedwetting, especially those
who have failed other bedwetting treatments, need to improve their daytime
bladder and bowel functions. We have excellent advice on how to correct
these problems and become dry at night..
